Breaking Barriers - 7th June 2024
As a way of visual storytelling, I use the camera to challenge stereotypes. Through ‘Breaking Barriers’, I challenge the idea that certain jobs are just made for men, making you wonder: are we holding people back by having these close-minded norms and beliefs? Each photo shows someone shattering the mould in a job usually considered to be male dominated. I aim to capture not just the person themselves but also their stories. The aim is much more than representation, it is about breaking norms and inspiring change. With each individual image, I want women to believe that they can do anything that a man can do.

Through the Gaze - 6th May 2023
The sexualisation of women. The objectification of women. This has always been a cause of concern throughout history for as long as we can remember whether it's the media industry, arts industry or just everyday life. The cause of the objectification and sexualisation is all due to the male gaze, it shouldn't be due to the way someone is dressed or the way someone looks that gives the right to be gazed at. When thinking about objects we tend to associate it with stillness, well this piece of work challenges the objectification. The movement throughout the whole of the image shows a fluidity that goes against the stillness. If the way someone looks or dresses makes them an object then how is it even possible when all that can be seen is movement and non-identity.
